Many of us feel stuck in our lives and behaviors. We know there is a better way, yet we avoid taking the necessary steps to face challenges and build lives that are fun, free and fulfilling.

I works with adults, adolescents and couples to resolve a broad array of issues including trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance use/abuse. I am also a supervisor for Associate Therapists in Private Practice and for trainee Therapists at Antioch Community Therapy Services (actsla.org) in Los Angeles.

MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

Whether your struggle is related to addiction, depression, anxiety, social factors, trauma, childhood experience, learning challenges, hopelessness, inherent biology, sexuality (LGBTQ+), gender identity, or transition, I believe taking positive actions is important to finding a greater sense of connection to life and others.

My approach toward therapy is integrated, inspired by CBT, DBT, Meaning-Based, Solution-Focused, Narrative, Humanistic, Compassion-Focused, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, and Attachment Perspectives.  Using both talk therapy and EMDR (if desired) we address traumas, behaviors, negative thought patterns, communication, and relationship challenges that have triggered negative self-beliefs and interfered with our ability to meet our potential. In doing so we develop a stronger sense of self and a more consistently felt well-being.

For the creators and artists amongst us, I also have a Master of Fine Arts degree and spent many years working successfully as an artist and creative professional.  Artist or not, I believe creativity can be an asset in addressing many life challenges.

Together, I hope we can create deeper awareness around and address factors that trigger unwanted patterns and feelings, so you are able to take actions that get your life on a smoother more fulfilling track -- I will join you on your journey and be rooting for you as we move forward on a newer path.

  • Clinical Supervision for Associate Therapists

I offer clinical supervision to motivated, compassionate, and open-minded Associate Marriage & Family Therapists in California, utilizing either my Beverly Hills office space or virtual platforms. My integrative supervision approach supports diverse perspectives and fosters professional growth in a dynamic environment. Let's collaborate to enhance your skills and achieve your career goals in a supportive and flexible setting.

  • DBT Certified

In my therapy practice, I often integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to provide clients with valuable communication, coping, and mindfulness skills. Although DBT was initially developed for individuals with personality disorders, I find that its techniques are universally beneficial, helping people enhance their emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills are particularly effective in fostering healthy communication and strengthening relationships of all kinds, making them a valuable addition to anyone's therapeutic toolkit.

  • EMDR Practitioner

I integrate elements of EMDR into my practice due to its proven effectiveness in trauma processing and its ability to reduce negative cognitions. By using techniques such as tapping, tappers, light-following, and headsets, I facilitate bilateral stimulation that helps clients reprocess distressing memories and replace negative beliefs with positive ones. This approach not only supports healing but also enhances overall therapeutic outcomes by fostering a more balanced and positive self-perception.

  • Addiction & Recovery

With training from Beit T'Shuvah and two years of experience in another local prestigious recovery centers' detox, PHP, and IOP programs, I have worked with hundreds of addiction clients. Many have tracked me down to express their appreciation or seek further guidance, highlighting the impact of our work together. I am well-versed in 12-Step, Buddhist, and SMART Recovery approaches, allowing me to offer tailored support and refer clients to higher levels of care if needed.

  • LGBTQ+ Affirming

As an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, I bring a deep understanding and compassion to my work, shaped by my own experiences as a gay man. Having navigated the challenges of trauma and loss, including the profound impact of the AIDS crisis, I am dedicated to supporting clients across the entire LGBTQIA+ spectrum and beyond. My extensive experience with the diverse needs and identities within our community allows me to provide empathetic and informed care to individuals of all orientations and gender identities, including those not yet represented in the acronym.

  • COUPLES & FAMILIES

I have supported a wide array of family structures, including LGBTQ families and blended families, tailoring my approach to meet each unique set of needs. Having personally raised children via surrogacy, I offer a deep understanding of the complexities and dynamics within modern family systems. My goal is to provide compassionate, inclusive, and effective support to help families navigate their challenges and strengthen their relationships.

I am dedicated to creating a supportive environment where clients can develop effective coping strategies, improve their academic and professional performance, and fully realize their potential.

Whether you’re navigating academic hurdles or seeking to enhance your career experience, I provide tailored guidance to help you thrive and achieve your goals.

  • Person Centered & Compassion-Focused

In my practice, I utilize person-centered therapy, grounded in Carl Rogers' principles of empathy and unconditional positive regard, to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space for clients. Complementing this, I incorporate Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help individuals develop self-compassion and address issues of shame and self-criticism. This combined approach fosters a nurturing environment where clients can explore their emotions and work towards healing and personal growth.

  • CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the therapies I integrate into my practice, focusing on the dynamic between thoughts and feelings. By helping clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, CBT enables them to take positive actions that lead to measurable and immediate improvements in their well-being. This approach not only fosters effective problem-solving but also promotes lasting change through practical strategies and skill-building.

  • Mindfulness

With extensive training and practice in Transcendental and other guided mindfulness techniques, I utilize mindfulness with clients who are open and interested, including those who already have their own practices. While mindfulness may not be everyone's preferred approach, when used as a tool in therapy, it can be transformative for achieving a sense of calm, centeredness, and overall well-being. Its capacity to enhance emotional regulation and self-awareness often leads to profound and lasting improvements.

  • Trauma-Informed

In my trauma-informed therapy, I recognize the profound loneliness that trauma can bring and approach healing with deep compassion and empathy. My awareness of trauma's impact helps me create a supportive, safe environment for clients. As part of this process, I may incorporate tools such as EMDR to facilitate healing and support clients in navigating their experiences.

  • Creative Support

With a Master’s in Clinical Psychology and a Master of Fine Arts from NYU, along with extensive experience as a filmmaker, I offer specialized support to artists and creators. Emphasizing this aspect is crucial, as effective integration helps clients maximize the therapeutic benefits of their experiences.

  • Death Doula Intern

Working under the supervision of Mary Telliano of The Anam Cara Academy, I utilize both traditional and psychedelic-assisted therapies to help clients facing life-threatening illnesses, declining health, and/or hospice care to have a safe space for the expression of love, memories, meaningful expression, and wisdom, to clear a pathway for a transition filled with beauty and peace.

  • Certified Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist
